Medicaid Expansion

The Palm Beach County Democratic Party is working hard to collect signatures to support Medical Expansion. This constitutional amendment for the November 2020 ballot that would expand Medicaid coverage to low-income adults who currently are not eligible. Florida lawmakers have repeatedly rejected such an expansion, which is optional for states under the federal Affordable Care Act. The proposed constitutional amendment would expand eligibility to people whose incomes are up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level. Close to a million signatures will be needed. Any Florida registered voter may sign the petition.

Ban Assault Weapons Now

The Ban Assault Weapons Now petition, or BAWN—aims to ban the future sale of semiautomatic assault rifles throughout Florida. Spearheaded by Parkland’s Democratic Representative Ted Deutch, BAWN seeks to ban “any semiautomatic rifle or shotgun capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition at once, either in a fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition-feeding device.” Any Florida registered voter may sign the petition.
